What is En Primeur?
Millésima, one of the five biggest buyers of en primeur wines in Bordeaux, is offering no fewer than 160 wines from the 2009 vintage. The list is the largest 2009 primeur list available on the market and all wines are purchased direct from the properties.
How it works?
The main advantage of buying wines en primeur is that the wines may be considerably cheaper during the en primeur period than they will be once bottled and released on the market. Another advantage is to really get a hold on the sought after wine. The wines most commonly offered en primeur are from Bordeaux.
En primeur or "wine futures", is a way of purchasing wines while a vintage is still in a barrel, offering the customer the opportunity to invest in a particular wine before it is bottled. Payment is made at an early stage, from a year to 18 months before each wine is bottled.
