Flanked by a sumptuous Carthusian monastery in the purest Mèdoc style of its type, chateau La Lagune has, in its stones like its wines, a strong tradition linked to the production of nectar that combines finesse, balance and harmony. Baron Louis-Nicolas Louis, architect of the Grand Théâtre in Bordeaux under the name of Victor Louis, designed this elegant property at the end of the 18th century. It would, in 1855, join the closed circle of the Médoc's classified growths. Having a terroir combining fine gravel, silica and clay, the three varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the very present Petit Verdot flourish wonderfully well on the famous ridge that goes as deep as 16 metres. Coming into the fold of the Frey Champagne family in 2000, it is Caroline Frey, a young, talented, experienced and daring oenologist who is breathing life into the land belonging to this 3rd growth Haut-Médoc, to produce wines that are marked by a style that is fine like lace and silky smooth.
