Description
A straightforward and fine red wine from Château Bouscassé
A red wine produced exclusively from Tannat in the Madiran appellation, Château Bouscassé Vieilles Vignes comes from a vineyard aged between 50 and 100 years on average, planted on clay-limestone and marbled clay. The ageing is carried out exclusively in new barrels, for 24 months.
The 2016 vintage of Château Bouscassé Vieilles Vignes benefitted from an extremely mild winter and spring, leading to an early budburst. But this early development of the vine slowed during a more lukewarm and dry summer. The grapes could, nevertheless, be harvested at optimum maturity thanks to rain in September.
At tasting, the Château Bouscassé Vieilles Vignes 2016 displays a very expressive and complex nose, an expression of clay soils. The tannins are precise and contribute both length and elegance to this wine. Dense on the palate, one can observe beautiful freshness and a subtly integrated woodiness in this Vieilles Vignes 2016.
