Description
A fruity and well-balanced Barsac sweet wine
The estate
Château Doisy-Daëne has belonged to the Dubourdieu family since 1924. Led by three generations of winegrowers and boasting an exceptional terroir, this 1855 Second Cru Classé produces sweet wines that are poised among the finest wines of Bordeaux. Denis Dubourdieu has been at the helm of the estate since 2000.
The vineyard
Château Doisy-Daëne 2021 is a Barsac wine produced from a vineyard located on the plateau of the appellation. This area is characterised by its unique geological formation. The soil is composed of a thin layer of clayey sands referred to as "the red sands of the barsacais" which rest upon limestone subsoils. This porous limestone soil helps to regulate the vines’ water supply by releasing the water stored during the winter. Therefore, the wines of Château Doisy-Daëne stand out due to their exceptional finesse.
Vinification and ageing
The production of Château Doisy-Daëne's sweet wines involves a rigorous harvest that is carried out by experienced grape pickers with 3 to 6 rounds, thus enabling the grapes that have developed the famous "noble rot" to be harvested at the most favourable time. The juices are then extracted by slow pressing before fermentation in oak barrels, every quarter is renewed. The wine is aged for an initial period of 10 months in barrels, followed by 9 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
The blend
Sémillon (100%).
