Description
A fresh and aromatic Sauternes wine
The estate
With its first harvest carried out in 1618, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a historic property in Sauternes. A Sauternes First Growth of 1855, this property is also the smallest in the appellation, with a surface of just 8.5 hectares. Located on the highest areas of the Bommes hill, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey takes its name from Peyraguey which means hill or promontory. Acquired in 2012 by Bernard Magrez, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is one of the most beautiful classified growths of Sauternes.
The vineyard
Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2021 is a Sauternes wine made from a 6-hectare single Peyraguey vineyard, located opposite Château d'Yquem. The vines are 38 years old on average and are planted on gravelly-sandy soils resting on clay subsoils.
The vintage
A mild, rainy winter preceded a spring that alternated between strong sunshine and rainy episodes. The summer is mild.
Vinification and ageing
A light settling is carried out before fermentation in barrels (new or second-fill). Regular racking is carried out during the vinification process.
The blend
Semillon (60%)
Sauvignon Blanc (40%).

The tasting
Nose
The nose blends exotic fruit fragrances with savoury floral notes.
Palate
Aromatic and beautifully fresh, the palate gives off candied and roasted notes. Throughout the tasting experience, the palate combines tension and acidity with utter finesse and elegance.
