Description
Delas signs a powerful and aromatic Hermitage red wine
The producer
Founded in 1835, Maison Delas Frères is a point of reference among wines from the northern Rhône Valley. While its takeover by the Maison de Champagne Deutz in 1977 marked the start of a new era, the international development of the house continued thanks to the Rouzaud family’s purchase in 1993, major shareholders of the Louis Roederer group.
The vineyard
Maison Delas Frères watches over a vineyard split into three exceptional Rhône Valley appellations : Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage and Saint-Joseph. In order to enhance the expression of each of these terroirs, the vinification and ageing are fragmented by plot.
The wine
This Domaine des Tourettes 2014 by Delas is made from grapes from three terroirs (Ermite, Sabot and Bessards) located within the Hermitage region. This iconic appellation is known for its mainly south-facing vineyards as well as the variety of soils made up of granite soils covered with mica schists, gneiss and round alluvial pebbles.
The vinification and ageing
Manual harvests are carried out on a plot basis at optimum maturity. Two days of pre-fermentation cold maceration precede traditional vinification in open concrete vats. Fermentation at a controlled temperature (28-30°C) followed by the punching of the caps and pumping over for ten days. Total vatting of approximatively 20 days. Devatting and pressing before malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, like ageing.

This Domaine des Tourettes 2014 by Delas is a 100% Syrah.

Colour
Shiny and deep, the colour is a beautiful dark red colour.
Nose
Powerful and complex, the aroma exudes fragrances of black fruits, spices and leather.
Palate
The palate is seductive due to its firm structure combined with a silky feel, as well as its tight tannic structure, which guarantees great ageing potential.
