Description
A Delicious and Structured Saint-Joseph
A great red wine from the Rhône Valley produced in the Saint-Joseph appellation, the Saint-Joseph François de Tournon 2015 from Maison Delas Frères is a fine example of a wine that combines deliciousness with finesse.
Already appearing in the 16th century at the royal tables of the kings of France, this Saint-Joseph takes its name from Cardinal François de Tournon, who founded the College of Tournon for the Jesuits. The estate's vineyards extend over fifty kilometers on the right bank of the Rhône River, from Chavanay in the north to Guilherand in the south. The vines here enjoy a moderate continental climate with hot and dry summers, tempered by a good level of rainfall. The south, south-east exposure of the vineyards combined with the light shale and gneiss upon granitic soils are the keys to this great terroir.
A single-varietal Syrah wine, the Saint-Joseph François Tournon 2015 from Maison Delas Frères contains a blend of rigorously selected grapes from the terroirs of Vion, Saint-Jean de Muzols, Mauves and Tournon.
In the glass, the Saint-Joseph François Tournon 2015 of Maison Delas Frères presents a pretty, dark ruby colour. On the nose, the aromatic palette allow the Syrah to express itself fully, with delicate notes of black fruits evoking blackcurrant and giving way eventually to warm notes of spices. On the palate, the attack is seductively soft with a velvety texture. The tannins are very nicely present, with a silky structure that charms the palate with the finesse of its grain. A delicate and delicious St. Joseph to enjoy now keep until 2025.
