Description
A refined Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru with a rich aromatic palette
The estate
Boasting over 1000 years of history, Domaine du Château de Meursault is a reference among the finest Burgundian wines. Expanded under the impetus of the Serre family at the beginning of the 19th century, the property has belonged to the Halley family since 2012.
Château de Meursault reigns over a vineyard of nearly 65 hectares that spreads over more than 110 plots of land within the Premiers and Grands Crus cultivated exclusively on the Côte de Beaune in the communes of Aloxe-Corton, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. Château de Meursault owns the prestigious Premier Cru "les Charmes Dessus", "Charmes", "Perrières" and holds the monopoly of the "Clos des Grands Charrons".
The wine
This Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er cru "Les Peuillets" 2020 by Domaine du Château de Meursault is made from a terroir of 1.62 hectares that spreads over two east-facing plots at the bottom of the hillside. Particularly early, these vineyards are planted on deep, slightly stony clay-limestone soil, which provide an optimal drainage.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are sorted twice (manually and optically) before destemming and vinification of the ripest and healthiest berries. Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 15 to 18 days followed by alcoholic fermentation with punching down and pumping over if necessary. Pneumatic pressing with separation of the juices before ageing for 15 months in new barrels (30%), in barrels of second and third-fill barrels and in stainless steel tanks.
The blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
