Description
The estate
Basile Saint-Germain and his wife, Caroline, established the Domaine les Aurelles in 1995 with the ambition of producing fine Languedoc wines, all while respecting both nature and biodiversity. The pure and authentic expression of the South of France’s great terroirs, the wines by Domaine les Aurelles epitomise the estate’s philosophy whose high standards result in exceptional wines.
Without any traces of pesticides or other chemical residues, guaranteed by the Excell laboratory since 2005, the vintages produced by this estate, rated 3 stars in the Revue du Vin de France green wine guide, are seductive due to their constancy, their aromatic brilliance and their great ageing potential.
The vineyard
An essential reference among Languedoc-Pézenas wines, this 2013 Aurel vintage by Domaine les Aurelles is made from old hillside terraces. This terroir is composed of Mourvèdre (85%) and Grenache (15%) and is planted on sandy-gravelly Villafranchian soils and basaltic scree.
The vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and are rigorously sorted on the vine. The wine is aged in vats for 44 months.
