Description
A Côte-Rôtie red wine expressing seductive complexity and elegance
The producer
Since its creation in 1946, the Ferraton Père & Fils estate has become an iconic Rhône Valley wine reference.
For several generations, the Ferraton Père & Fils estate has been promoting a viticulture that respects both the vines and people and produces wines that bring out the potential and aromatic finesse of great appellations such as Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu...
The vineyard
The estate watches over an exceptional vineyard that is certified in organic farming since 1998 and Demeter in 2010.
The wine
Ferraton Père & Fils' 2018 L'Eglantine is made from vineyards in the Côte-Rôtie appellation with south/southeast sun exposure on terraces with soils composed of micaschist and granite.
The vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes are completely destemmed. The wine is vinified in concrete tnaks for about 4 weeks, with punching down of the cap to ensure optimum extraction. Vatting for 15 to 20 days. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 16 to 18 months.
The blend
Ferraton Père & Fils' 2018 Eglantine is a 100% Syrah.
The tasting
Colour
The robe reveals a deep ruby colour.
Nose
The nose combines fruity (red berries), floral (violet) and spicy fragrances with subtle notes of black olives.
Palate
The palate is long and seductive with its minerality and elegance. Throughout the tasting, aromas of truffles and leather are combined with subtle woody notes.
