Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild 2010

Bordeaux - Pauillac - Red - 13.5° Château Mouton Rothschild Château Mouton Rothschild 2010 1039/10
  • Parker : 93
  • J. Robinson : 18

A black-red hue introduces the 2010 Petit Mouton. With the exceptional vintage year effect, this Pauillac is de rigueur in Chateau Mouton Rothschild prestigious category of Second-Vin. The charming, intense, rich nose exudes generous red fruits with hints of vanilla and cacao. These fragrances reveal the complex olfactory signature. The palate shows a rare precision and density even for a Second Vin. The fresh and elegant attack introduces controlled, dense tannins reflecting a meticulous selection. The mid-palate offers smooth, elegant volume with retro-olfactory roasted notes from the maturation process, completed with ripe fruits. The finish of the 2010 Petit Mouton is long, rich, savoury, and lavishly fruity.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2010 Le Petit Mouton is one of the best ever made. Philippe Dhalluin has conjured such purity on the nose that it's almost like Bordeaux doing an impression of Burgundy, though the latter would not be sporting those subtle cedar and mint aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, much more approachable than other 2010 Pauillacs, but with tremendous sensuality and poise, a saline note on the finish lending length and detail. This is highly recommended. Tasted August 2016.
