Description
The power and aromatic richness of a red wine from La Rioja
The estate
Since its acquisition by the Álvares family in 1982, Vega Sicilia has continued to grow and establish its international reputation. Today, a never-ending quest for excellence, a beautiful harmony with nature, rigour and an unwavering dedication make the Spanish estate a prestigious reference. Over the years, other wineries like Pintia have come to embrace and enhance the Vega Sicilia philosophy. Thus, the extreme care taken in the vineyards and throughout the winemaking process is the sign of great Spanish wines from unique lands.
The wine
Macán by Vega Sicilia & Rothschild is a wine from La Rioja born from the close Franco-Spanish collaboration between two illustrious winemaking institutions. Initiated in 2004, this joint-venture between Vega Sicilia and the Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild brings out, through wines made from a rigorous selection of plots, all the nuances and complexity of Spain's finest terroirs.
The vintage
2017 began with extreme weather conditions, marked by episodes of frost and heavy rainfall. Weather conditions were milder from July until the harvest.
The blend
Tempranillo (100%).
