Tardieu Laurent : Côte-Rôtie 2013

Rhone Valley - Cote-Rotie - Red - 12.5° Tardieu Laurent Tardieu Laurent 2013 F616/13
  • Parker : 93
2013 Cote-Rotie Vielles Vignes can be considered as the best 2013 wine from Domaine Tardieu-Laurent. The pure Syrah grapes grow on the best plots of the estate: Landonne, Chavaroche, Rozier, and Rochains. The shiny blood-red hued 2013 Cote-Rotie offers marvellous smoked bacon, graphite, black pepper, and even cherry. The palate shows a dense, intense texture with spicy yet fruity flavours, and firm tannins.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Another wine that's a classic representation of the appellation and the vintage is the 2013 Cote Rotie, which all comes from parcels in the Cote Brune side of the appellation and offers textbook notes of black raspberries, spring flowers, smoke, olives and sappy underbrush. Complex, nuanced and layered, this medium-bodied beauty has fabulous tension and energy on the palate, with integrated acidity, fine, polished tannin and terrific length. It's not a blockbuster by any means, but it shines for its purity, elegance and length. It needs 3-4 years of cellaring and will drink well for a decade after that.
