Description
A delicate and fruity Chassagne-Montrachet wine
The estate
Iconic figure of the Côte de Beaune, the Château de la Maltroye embodies Burgundian elegance. Overlooking the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, this 18th-century residence, recognizable by its region’s typical glazed roof, houses in its 15th-century cellars a remarkable winemaking heritage. Since 1970, the Cournut family has headed the estate. Jean-Pierre Cournut, an aeronautical engineer by training, now runs the property with rigor and sensitivity, accurately expressing the identity of each parcel through wines of great precision.
The vineyard
The La Boudriotte climat, classified as 1er cru, is located south of Chassagne-Montrachet. It lies on deep, clay-rich soils, supported by a limestone subsoil. The domaine cultivates 51.25 ares of vines there, approximately 50 years old, giving this Burgundy wine depth and typicity.
Vinification and ageing
Careful ageing of 14 to 18 months in oak barrels, about 30% new wood. This choice of ageing preserves the purity of the fruit while adding complexity and structure.
Grape variety
Pinot noir.
