An aromatic and complex red Nuits-Saint-Georges from Domaine Chevillon
The estate
Founded in 1900 by Symphorien Chevillon, the eponymous estate based in Nuits-Saint-Georges has been crafting great Burgundy wines for four generations, showcasing its flagship grape variety, Pinot Noir.
The remarkable potential of an exceptional terroir is matched by a family passion: ensuring that every wine from the estate, produced through a tailored and highly natural vinification, expresses the quintessence of the fruit with purity and harmony.
The wine
This Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 2011 from Domaine Chevillon is made from grapes grown on a 1.55-hectare plot. East-facing, this terroir lies in the northern part of the appellation's vineyards, at an altitude of between 260 and 280 metres.
The name of this cuvée derives from the term “Chasne”, which, combined with the Burgundian suffix “ot”, referred in Old French to a place where oak trees grew. This later gave rise to the modern words “chesne” and then “chêne”.
