Description

The mineral finesse of a Bourgogne Premier Cru white wine by Domaine Matrot

The Estate
Le Domaine Matrot has been part of a long winemaking tradition in Meursault, carried on for six generations. Today, Adèle and Elsa Matrot have joined their parents at the head of the family estate. Together, they bring fresh dynamism while honoring the heritage they received. Since their first joint vintage in 2016, the two sisters have been committed to revealing the identity of each terroir and each vintage with precision and rigor.
A pioneer in sustainable viticulture as early as 1976 thanks to Thierry Matrot, the estate extended this approach across its entire 24 hectares in the early 2000s. The Domaine Matrot is now celebrated for its precise and profound wines, crafted for excellent aging potential.

The Vineyard
The Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru "Les Chalumeaux" comes from vines averaging 25 years of age. They are planted on an east-facing slope with limestone soil mixed with marl. This stony terroir, typical of the appellation, contributes to the wine’s mineral tension and aromatic precision.

Winemaking and aging
The grapes, hand-harvested, are pressed as whole clusters. After a 24-hour settling, the must is racked off its lees and then filled into barrels. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with native yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged on its lees for 15 months in one- to three-year-old oak barrels. An additional month in tank precedes bottling to refine its balance.
