Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the Richebourg Grand Cru Domaine du Clos Frantin 2020 by Albert Bichot

Tasting

Nose
The bouquet is complex, revealing elegant cocoa aromas underpinned by a delicate smoky note. The nose also expresses notes of red and black fruits, accompanied by spicy nuances. With aeration, the wine evolves towards scents of undergrowth and leather.

Palate
The palate seduces with its rich and dense texture. The perfectly integrated tannins lend the wine a magnificent character. The finish is distinguished by remarkable length.

Food and wine

This Grand Cru is ideal with finely prepared meats, whether roasted or served in sauce: beef, lamb, pork, game, or duck. It also wonderfully accompanies full-bodied, medium to strong cheeses. The perfect combination: Beef Tournedos Rossini.

Service and Storage

The Richebourg Grand Cru Domaine du Clos Frantin 2020 should be tasted at a temperature between 16 and 17°C. This wine has a cellaring potential until 2030 and beyond.

A Burgundy Grand Cru of rare concentration

The Estate

Founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot in Monthélie, the house of Albert Bichot embodies nearly two centuries of Burgundian wine excellence. Today under the management of Albéric Bichot, this family business cultivates more than 100 hectares, distributed across six prestigious estates, including Clos Frantin. As a pioneer of organic viticulture in Burgundy, Albert Bichot offers the largest portfolio of certified organic wines among the great houses of Beaune.

The Vineyard

The Richebourg appellation extends over just 8 hectares in Vosne-Romanée, under the influence of the Combe de Concœur. Domaine du Clos Frantin cultivates a tiny plot of 0.07 hectares, planted with vines aged between 35 and 40 years. The clay-limestone soils, characterized by their hilly relief and proximity to the bedrock, lend the wine its structure and complexity.

Winemaking and Aging

The grapes for the Richebourg Grand Cru Domaine du Clos Frantin 2020 are harvested by hand and sorted upon arrival at the winery. Vatting takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 18 to 21 days. The wine is then aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, with 40 to 50% new oak. This cuvée is certified organic.

Grape Variety

This Burgundy is 100% Pinot Noir.
