A finely elegant Burgundy Premier Cru by Arthur Gras
The estate
Based in Saint-Romain in Burgundy, this family estate was founded in 1979 by Alain Gras and farms around 12 hectares across Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, and Meursault. Since 2020, Arthur Gras represents the new generation. The estate’s philosophy centers on sustainable viticulture, hand harvesting, and a meticulous single-parcel approach, with a focus on precision, minerality, and elegance.
The vineyard
This Savigny-lès-Beaune cuvée comes from a 0.5-hectare southeast-facing plot on the edge of the Bois de Noël. The 40-year-old vines thrive in clay-limestone soils enriched with gravel, offering a terroir that favors the expression of Pinot Noir.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for this Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru "Les Vergelesses" 2023 are harvested by hand. Vinification includes 20% whole clusters and a 10-day maceration with pump-overs and punch-downs. After pneumatic pressing, aging takes place entirely in barrels for 12 months before bottling.
