Description
The aromatic richness of a Bordeaux white wine by Château Talbot
The estate
A 4th Classified Growth of Saint-Julien, Château Talbot is one of the iconic references of Haut-Médoc. Acquired by Desire Cordier in 1918, Château Talbot is today managed by Nancy Bignon-Cordier and her husband, Jean-Paul Bignon.
The vineyard
The Château Talbot vineyard is a real treasure, covering 110 hectares of vines all in one piece, in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. These vines have an ideal location on the edge of the Gironde estuary, planted on ridges of Médoc gravel and alluvial deposits. 5.2 hectares of the Château Talbot vineyard are dedicated to the production of Caillou Blanc, the property's white wine.
The wine
Caillou Blanc by Château Talbot pays homage to Georges Cordier, who had the idea of replanting white grape varieties in the Médoc at the end of the 1930's. Caillou Blanc by Château Talbot invites you to discover the expression of a wine produced in the Bordeaux dry white wines appellation, endowed with very fresh aromas and a beautiful liveliness on the palate.
Vinification and ageing
Harvested manually, the grapes are sorted in the vineyard and then vinified 100% in barrels, 30% of which are new oak barrels. Ageing lasted 8 months on lees with regular stirring.
The blend
The Caillou Blanc 2020 from Château Talbot is made from a blend of sauvignon blanc (83%) and sémillon (17%).
