Food and wine pairings

This Madiran is an ideal match for grilled duck breast, a rib steak with pepper sauce, or a wild boar stew. It also pairs very well with aged cheeses.

Serving and cellaring

Château Bouscassé 2019 benefits from being decanted one to two hours before serving and served at 16 to 18°C. This wine can be enjoyed through around 2031.

A powerful, harmonious Madiran from Southwest France

The estate

Established in 1980, Château Bouscassé is a 50-hectare family estate located in Maumusson-Laguian, in the Madiran appellation, in the heart of Southwest France, on the Pyrenean foothills. Owned by Alain Brumont, an emblematic figure of the region, the estate draws on an exceptional terroir of fine mottled clays over fissured limestone, nicknamed « Pied de Côte de Saint-Émilion ». The vines, 20 to 100 years old, produce wines of powerful harmony, driven by Tannat. Since the 2018 vintage, management has been led by Antoine Veiry.

The vineyard

The Château Bouscassé vineyard benefits from a remarkable terroir of fine yellow and white mottled clays on fissured limestone. This distinctive geological setting, located in the Madiran appellation, gives the wines a distinctive structure and outstanding aging potential.

The vintage

The 2019 vintage is considered excellent in the Southwest. Favorable weather conditions enabled optimal ripeness in the grapes, producing wines that are concentrated and well-balanced.

Winemaking and aging

Winemaking for Château Bouscassé 2019 begins with a maceration of 3 to 6 weeks, allowing optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 28°C.
