Vinum

Subtle on the nose, delicate floral notes, citrus fruits, orange blossom; sweet attack, the acidity is almost somewhat restrained this year, flower honey and bitter almonds on the retro-aroma.

Decanter

Cloudy yellow-gold in the glass, with a floral yet slightly yeasty, muted nose. Round and creamy on the palate, with good acidity and a chalky texture. Shows candied citrus, apricot, and prominent botrytis, though lacking a touch of purity. Lighter than usual, but fresh and charming. A finesse-driven wine with almost immediate appeal. 128g/l residual sugar.

Le Figaro Vin

Delicately sappy aromas open on a fresh, tender nose, even with the oak clearly present. Ripe pear, white peach and lychee add complexity. Driven by tension, the palate is all freshness, with a crystalline, bright edge. The sweetness fades into notes of white-fleshed fruit, jasmine and chamomile. Light without being thin, the texture stretches languorously into the finish. Superb!

Vertdevin

The nose is fresh, racy, taut, precise, airy, and offers a lovely racy, gravelly grain with a delicate spicy edge. It reveals notes of pulpy yellow apple, small candied yellow fruits and, more subtly, mirabelle plum jam, combined with hints of flint, as well as discreet touches of spice and a subtle almond note. The palate is beautifully handled, fruity, tangy, and juicy. It offers accuracy, a fresh backbone, acidity, good definition, elegance, and a fine, well-judged tension. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy yellow apple, crushed nectarine and, more delicately, candied mirabelle, combined with touches of candied quince, as well as a hint of exotic fruits, crystallized mandarin, and flint. Good length. A precise, fresh wine with a subtle vanilla and iodized touch on the finish.

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château de Myrat 2024

Tasting

The 2024 vintage offers a profile marked by a prominent botrytis and remarkable freshness. Lighter than previous years, it seduces with its charm and finesse, revealing delicate notes of candied citrus and apricot in the finish.

Food and wine pairings

This Sauternes pairs perfectly with spicy tapas, shrimp, foie gras, or even curry chicken. It also wonderfully accompanies a braised veal chop and pairs ideally with cheeses such as Roquefort or Comté. To finish on a sweet note, opt for a mango mousse or a fresh fruit salad.

The vivacity and elegance of a Sauternes wine

The property

Founded in the 18th century by the Demirat family, the Château de Myrat is a wine estate located in Barsac, in the Bordeaux region. Acquired in 1937 by Max de Pontac, descendant of Jean de Pontac (founder of Haut-Brion), the estate now extends over 22 hectares.

The vineyard

Located in Haut-Barsac, at the heart of the Sauternes appellation, the vineyard of Château de Myrat benefits from an exceptional terroir composed of clay-limestone on cracked limestone. This unique geological composition, combined with the particular microclimate of the region favoring the development of botrytis cinerea (noble rot), gives the wines this distinctive character and aromatic richness.

Vinification and aging

Vinification in barrels, followed by an aging of 18 months, 40% of which in new barrels.

Blend

Sémillon (92%), sauvignon (4%) and muscadelle (4%).
