The producer
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, an iconic Saint-Julien Cru Classé, watches over a prestigious terroir. Over the past 300 years, six families have worked to ensure that this wine, with a worldwide reputation, never loses its shine. Owned by the Borie family since 1941, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou gets its name from the beautiful stones that make up the terroir’s soil, Günzian gravel. Managed by Bruno Borie, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou ranks among the elite of fine Saint-Julien red wines. Vintage after vintage, its wines delight lovers of fine Médoc wines from all around the world.
The vineyard
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou’s distinguishing feature lies in the exceptional quality of its vineyard. The vines are planted on Günzian and Pyrenean gravel soils, deposited by the Gironde estuary nearly two million years ago. These poor soils produce exceptional wines.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (95%)
Merlot (5%).
The tasting
Nose
Intense and beautifully pure, this wine blends fresh and elegant fruity (black fruits) and floral fragrances with subtle notes of cedar and mocha.
Palate
Precise and smooth, this wine combines aromas of black fruits and spices with a hint of balsamic and cedar wood. This enchanting palate stretches to a superb finish. A memorable vintage by Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, offering an exceptional ageing potential.
Composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Ducru-Beaucaillou is provocatively and profoundly scented of chocolate-covered cherries, fresh black currants, crushed blueberries and licorice with touches of cigar box, roses and violets plus hints of black pepper and tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, rich and sultry with tons of seductive layers and firm, wonderfully velvety tannins, it has a very long, multilayered finish.
