Description

The complexity and balance of a fine Pessac-Léognan red wine

The estate

Acquired by Vignobles Dourthe in 1990, Château La Garde benefits from one of the most beautiful terroirs of Pessac-Léognan in the Bordeaux region.

The vineyard

The Château La Garde vineyard covers 52 hectares in one piece in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The vines are planted in a mosaic of terroirs combining gravel outcroppings and plateaus overlooking the town of Martillac.

Vinification and ageing

Optical sorting. Vinification with minimum handling. Malolactic fermentation partly in barrels. Aged on fine lees in oak barrels, 33% of which are new.

The blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (63%)

Merlot (34%)

Petit Verdot (3%).
