Description
A beautifully built and structured red wine from Saint-Estèphe
Château Lafon-Rochet is a 4ème cru classé produced in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. This red wine is made from vines aged 40 years on average, planted on deep gravel and gravel on clay. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for an average of 16 to 18 months, with a proportion of 50% new barrels. The 2006 vintage blends 53% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
At tasting, the Château Lafon-Rochet 2006 reveals a pleasant, open, fruity and woody nose, releasing aromas of fresh pepper. The palate is nice and elegant. The attack is initially subtle before the mid-palate and finish show great power. This wine offers a magnificent build and a fantastic structure with fruity, smoky and saline flavours. To consume now (tasted in 2015 by the estate).
