An elegant and refined cabernet franc
The estate
Château Marjosse, a historic vineyard in Entre-deux-Mers in Bordeaux, is located on the right bank of the Dordogne River. The estate spans more than 40 hectares and is now owned by Pierre Lurton, who also leads Cheval Blanc and d'Yquem, and who drives and signs the wines. He produces white and red wines renowned for their elegance, straightforwardness, fruit, and precise freshness. Technical and viticultural improvements are made each year to raise quality with every vintage.
The vineyard
This Vin de France comes from a specific plot of 25-year-old cabernet franc vines. The clay-limestone terroir gives the wine its mineral structure and signature elegance. Vineyard management favors a quality-driven approach aimed at preserving the authentic expression of the grape variety and the terroir.
The vintage
The 2020 vintage began with a wet spring followed by an exceptionally hot, dry summer. These conditions promoted rapid, even ripening of the grapes, yielding excellent polyphenolic richness while preserving the sought-after aromatic freshness.
Winemaking and aging
Anthologie de Marjosse Cuvée Ortolan 2020 benefits from meticulous winemaking focused on preserving fruit and freshness. Aging for 12 months is carried out half in demi-muids and half in concrete vats, allowing the structure to be refined while respecting the aromatic expression of cabernet franc.
