Description
A delicate and structured fine wine from Pomerol
The estate
Château Vray Croix de Gay is considered one of the most beautiful estates of the Pomerol appellation on the right bank of the Bordeaux region. The former winemaker of Pétrus, Jean-Claude Berrouet joined the technical team of the château in 2013 as an oenologist-consultant.
The vineyard
The 50-year-old vines are planted on a 3.67-hectare vineyard in gravelly clay soils in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. The vineyard has been certified for organic farming since 2018.
The vintage
Harvest from September 17 to 23 for Merlot, and October 3 for Cabernet Franc.
The ageing
40% new French oak barrels, 50% barrels of one previous wine, 10% barrels of two previous wines.
The blend
Merlot (90%), cabernet franc (10%)
The tasting
Tasted en primeur, the Château Vray Croix de Gay 2019 reveals a deep and refined nose. This wine reveals a dense and velvety attack that stretches into a precise finish, supported by a beautiful structure. A great red wine from Pomerol.
