An intense and highly refined dry white wine from Bordeaux
The property
Clos des Lunes traces the history of an ambitious adventure that began in 2011 from an observation and a challenge: to produce a legendary dry white wine on the exceptional terroir of Sauternes. This is the successful gamble made with passion and energy by the emblematic Olivier Bernard and his family, owners of the Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan.
The vineyard
References of dry white Bordeaux wines on a sweet wine terroir, Clos des Lunes watches over a 60-hectare vineyard in the hilly reliefs of Sauternes. The 40-year-old vines on average are planted on a mosaic of soils each contributing to the signature of the estate's wines. If the deep gravels of Sauternes confer power, the freshness characterizing the gravel soils on clay-limestone substrate of Bommes combines with the finesse and elegance of the red lands of Barsac.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest in crates by successive sorting. Slow pneumatic pressing. No destemming or maceration. Settling by gravity, in a cold room, and regular stirring of the lees. The vinification of the best juices is carried out in barrels and vats. The aging of a duration of 6 months is carried out in barrels (25%) and vats (75%).
Blend
Sémillon (70%)
Sauvignon blanc (30%).
