In 2011, Clos des Lunes embarked on an ambitious adventure with a specific goal in mind: to produce legendary dry white wine on the exceptional Sauternes terroir. Such is the challenge taken on by the iconic Olivier Bernard and his family, owners of Domaine de Chevalier in Léognan.
A benchmark among Bordeaux dry white wines, Clos des Lunes reigns over a 70-hectare vineyard in the hilly land of Sauternes. The vines are 35 years old on average and are planted on a tapestry of soils, each contributing to the signature style of the estate's wines. While the deep Sauternes gravels confer a powerful expression, the freshness that characterises the gravelly soils on a clay-limestone substrate in Bommes is combined with the finesse and elegance of the red soils in Barsac.
The colour is a beautiful light gold.
Intensely aromatic, the nose reveals notes of small white fruits, evolving into gourmet notes of summer fruits reminiscent of peach, apricot or melon jam. Delicate notes of citrus zest punctuate the bouquet.
Deliciously unctuous, the palate is seduced by this wine’s rich fruity expression, its freshness and its balance.
For an optimal tasting, serve at 10°C.
