The elegance and aromatic palette of a Ribera del Duero wine

The estate

The history of CVNE or Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España began in 1879. This family winery was founded by two brothers in the Haro train station area of the Rioja region in Spain. The company's strategic location enabled them to successfully market the bodega's wines and facilitated the transport of wine barrels and bottling. Since then, the fifth generation has continued the drive forward the family legacy. The company has now become one of Spain's leading wine groups.

CVNE reigns over a vineyard of 545 hectares that spread over the exceptional terroirs of La Rioja Alta and La Rioja Alavesa.

The wine

Bela by CVNE-Bodega Bela is inspired by the label of a wine produced by CVNE in 1910. Each star represents the children of one of the two founders: Sofia, Àurea and Ramón. Sofia was nicknamed Bela.

The vineyard

Bela 2020 by CVNE-Bodega Bela is a Ribera del Duero wine made from grapes stemming from around 25-year-old vines. Located at an altitude of 820 metres in the village of Villalba de Duero, these vineyards are planted on two types of soil, one sandy-silty and the other clay-silty.

The vintage

The year 2020 was marked by cool temperatures and heavy rainfall.

Vinification and ageing

Traditional vinification with cold maceration then fermentation in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. Aged for 9 months in French oak barrels. Following bottling, a final ageing phase is carried out for three months before the wine is released.

The blend

Tempranillo (95%)

Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (5%).
