Description
The expression and refinement of an exceptional Burgundy Grand Cru
The estate
Established in Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1825, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the Domaine Faiveley embodies Burgundy's viticultural excellence. Since 2005, the family lineage has continued through Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the seventh generation at the helm of this iconic estate. With over 120 hectares of vineyards, the estate is among the largest in the region. Its prestige rests as much on the extent of its vineyard as on the exceptional quality of its plots classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus.
The vineyard
Born in Côte de Nuits, Domaine Faiveley has gradually enriched its viticultural heritage by investing in the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. Today, the estate oversees a remarkable ensemble of 12 Grands Crus and 25 Premiers Crus, illustrating a constant desire to explore the diversity of Burgundy terroirs.
The wine
Since the 1930s, Faiveley has been the largest owner of the prestigious Chambertin-Clos de Bèze appellation. Three emblematic plots make up this exceptional heritage: the "Vieilles Vignes", the "Clos de Bèze Haut" and the "Grands Rangs". Located on 1.29 hectares of limestone soil, this Grand Cru comes from vines planted between 1949 and 1983, bringing depth, complexity and longevity to the wines.
Vinification and aging
The harvest, carried out exclusively by hand, is followed by a short pre-fermentation maceration. Vinification takes place in wooden truncated vats, with a maceration of more than three weeks. Gentle pressing ensures the pure expression of the fruit. Aging lasts between 16 and 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new and 40% have contained a wine, within the estate's historic 19th century cellars, offering ideal maturation conditions.
Grape variety
Pure Pinot Noir (100%), emblematic of Burgundy's finesse and elegance.
