The balance and elegance of a Second Wine from Pauillac
The property
Located at the gates of Pauillac, the Château Lynch Bages is a property that has marked the history of the Médoc. While the Bages terroir has been known since the 16th century, it gained fame in the 18th century. Led by the son of an Irish citizen named Thomas Lynch, the Bages cru was recognized at the Paris universal exhibition. Entered into the fold of the J-M Cazes family on the eve of the Second World War, Château Lynch-Bages is one of the most beautiful references of the Pauillac appellation.
The vineyard
Château Lynch-Bages is a Pauillac wine from a 105-hectare vineyard planted on Garonne gravels. The parcel division of the vineyard is refined thanks to the use of satellite technologies allowing to preserve the viticultural genetic heritage of the property. The homogeneous geology of the terroir allows a good supply of water to the vine on a territory where the climate is moderate.
The wine
Écho de Lynch-Bages is the Second Wine of the prestigious Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, Château Lynch-Bages.
The vintage
2024 begins with a very rainy and mild winter, conducive to early bud break. The wet spring imposes a high sanitary pressure, requiring continuous vigilance from the teams to preserve the quality of the vineyard. The summer, dry but without excessive heat, favors the freshness and aromas of the grapes, while the end-of-cycle rains refine maturation. The harvest, carried out with precision, allows for the collection of healthy grapes. Despite the climatic challenges, this vintage gives birth to fresh and delicate wines, in line with the great classic Bordeaux.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest with sorting in the vineyard and on the table. The aging takes place over 14 months in barrels (of which 20% are new).
Blend
Merlot (53%) and cabernet sauvignon (47%).
