The Estate
Driven by an artisanal vision and a deep respect for both the terroir and the environment, the Famille Perrin has established itself over the years as an emblematic figure among the great wines of the Rhône Valley. A pioneer of organic farming since 1950 and of biodynamics since 1974, this avant-garde family crafts exceptional cuvées recognized internationally for their elegance and commitment to quality.
The Wine
From the Cairanne appellation, the Peyre Blanche cuvée is produced by Famille Perrin from a 14-hectare vineyard situated on clay-gravel terraces. Entirely managed under organic farming, this terroir gives rise to an authentic and expressive wine. The name “Peyre Blanche,” meaning “stone,” echoes the mineral nature of the soils from which the vines draw their richness.
The Vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by extreme climatic conditions but was overall favorable to quality. After a very dry and mild winter and spring — particularly in January and May, the driest months since the beginning of the 20th century — the vines enjoyed excellent health. The summer, very hot and sunny, threatened an over-ripeness, but lifesaving rains in mid-August allowed for more gradual maturation.
Winemaking and Aging
After manual harvesting, the grapes are sorted, destemmed, and put into vats. Fermentation lasts around 15 days with pump-overs or punch-downs. After racking, aging takes place in stainless steel or concrete vats. No barrel aging is used in order to preserve the fruit’s freshness.
