The estate
Founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, a cooper by trade, the Domaine Jean Chartron takes its name from the union of Eugénie Dupard and Jean-Edmond Chartron. Situated in Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy, this family estate spans 14.5 hectares and produces 23 appellations on the exceptional terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. Under the leadership of Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron, representatives of the fifth generation, the estate cultivates a recognized expertise in Chardonnays and favours a soil-respecting philosophy to magnify the expression of its soils.
The vineyard
The Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru "Clos du Cailleret" comes from vineyards resting on clay-limestone soils that confer the wine its characteristic mineral signature and balanced structure.
Winemaking and aging
Fermentation takes place entirely in barrels, with 30% new oak and 70% barrels used one to five times. Aging is carried out on fine lees for 12 months in barrel, followed by 4 months of refinement in tank.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay, the emblematic variety of Burgundy's great white wines.
