The estate
Established in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, the Domaine Jean Chartron spans 14.5 hectares on the prestigious terroir of Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy. The family estate, now managed by Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron in the fifth generation, covers 23 appellations including Grand and Premier Crus. Exclusively dedicated to Chardonnay white wines, the estate favors early harvests and terroir-respecting aging, establishing itself among the references of the Côte de Beaune.
The vineyard
The parcels of this Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru "Vieilles Vignes" lie on the clay-limestone soils characteristic of the appellation. These exceptional terroirs give the wine its distinctive mineral signature and its capacity for pure expression of Burgundian Chardonnay.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking is carried out entirely in oak barrels, with 25 % new barrels and 75 % barrels that have been used for one to five vintages. Fine lees aging continues for 12 months in barrel, followed by 4 months in tank, allowing the texture to be refined and preserving the freshness of the wine.
Grape variety
This Premier Cru is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
