Kloster Eberbach is an illustrious German wine institution. A former Cistercian monastery located in the heart of the Rheingau wine region, Kloster Eberbach has been producing wine for almost nine centuries. As a member of the prestigious Verband Deustcher Prädikats (VDP), this estate is one of the largest and most prestigious wine producers in Germany.
The vineyard
Kloster Eberbach's Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Crescentia Spätburgunder is a Rheingau wine that stems from the Assmannshausen terroir, a place where the Pinot Noir variety has been thriving for many centuries. The name "Höllenberg" historically refers to a steeply sloping terroir. This wine is made vines that lie on slopes with an incline of up to 65 degrees and composed of slate soils.
