Description
The estate
Kloster Eberbach is an illustrious German wine institution. A former Cistercian monastery located in the heart of the Rheingau wine region, Kloster Eberbach has been producing wine for almost nine centuries. As a member of the prestigious Verband Deustcher Prädikats (VDP), this estate is one of the largest and most prestigious wine producers in Germany.
The vineyard
Kloster Eberbach's Riesling Steinberger Crescentia Trocken 2020 is a Rheingau wine made from a 30-hectare vineyard that dates back to the 13th century. In the 18th century, a 5-metre-high and 3-kilometre-long wall was built by the monks to protect the vineyard from thieves and wild animals. Over the years, this wall has created a unique microclimate, protecting the vines, whose location on quartz and slate soils provides them with a rare minerality and an elegant expression.
