Description
A seductive and refreshing second wine from Pomerol
The estate
Owned by Domaines Delon, Château Nénin embodies, according to the Delon family, “the expression of a great age-worthy Pomerol.” Acquired by the Delon family in 1997, this 19th-century estate underwent major restructuring, bringing Château Nénin to the top of Pomerol today.
The vineyard
This Pomerol vineyard covers 32 hectares. The vines are planted on a mosaic of terroirs composed of clay soils, siliceous gravel, quartz, granite, basalt pebbles, and iron-rich sand.
The wine
Fugue de Nénin is the Second Wine of Château Nénin, first produced with the 1997 vintage. Fugue contains a higher proportion of Merlot than its elder. It is therefore more approachable while still expressing the identity of Pomerol and the estate. Its name, Fugue, is inspired by the world of music—a fugue being a repetition of the main theme, which here is the Grand Vin Château Nénin. Fugue de Nénin is a hedonistic, indulgent, round, and silky wine that can be enjoyed earlier than the grand vin, but with a very high level of pleasure.
Blend
79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc.

Tasting
Nose
The nose offers an incredible fruity charm.
Palate
The palate is remarkably fresh and structured around creamy, enveloped, yet delicately tactile tannins. The significant proportion of Cabernet Franc gives this Pomerol a beautiful backbone and an impressive poise. The long finish and persistent fruitiness, from the bouquet to the last sip, are truly enjoyable.
