The Freshness and Fruity Profile of a Burgundian Grand Cru
The Estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, this Burgundian family estate perpetuates a unique heritage combining cooperage and winemaking. Owner of 33 hectares including Corton Grands Crus, Louis Latour stands out for its dual expertise inherited from its cooper origins. A pioneer in export since 1815 and a former supplier to European royal courts, the house remains an essential reference for Burgundy wines since its establishment on rue des Tonnelliers in Beaune in 1867.
The Vineyard
The vines of the Corton "Clos du Roi" are perfectly exposed to the east on the slopes of Corton, in the village of Aloxe-Corton. They are planted on a marl and limestone subsoil, which gives the wine its characteristic structure and minerality. Strict pruning allows for late harvesting, ensuring optimal ripeness and richness of the grapes.
Winemaking and Aging
Fermentation takes place traditionally in open vats, with a complete malolactic fermentation. Aging lasts 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new, sourced from the Louis Latour cooperage with medium toast.
Grape Variety
Pinot noir (100%).
