An illustrious Burgundian estate, Louis Latour has been actively committed since 1996 to a conscious and environmentally respectful viticulture.
The Vineyard
This 1er cru "Sous le Puits" 2021 is a Puligny-Montrachet wine from the eponymous vineyard, facing southeast and located at the summit of the Blagny hill, near a spring, which explains its name.
The vines, around 35 years old, are grown on clay-limestone soils.
The Vintage
The year begins with a cool and wet winter, followed by a particularly warm spring in late March and early April, promoting early budburst in the vine.
From April 5 to 8, a cold snap down to -8°C heavily impacted the vineyard.
Although weather conditions from June to early August increased disease pressure, flowering remained uniform.
The milder, drier end of August ensured optimal ripeness of the berries saved from frost.
Vinification and Aging
Traditional fermentation in oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation.
Aged for 8 to 10 months in oak barrels (50% new).
Blend
Chardonnay (100%)
