The refinement of a Burgundy premier cru red
The estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, Louis Latour remains a family estate now managed by the eleventh generation. Located in Burgundy on 50 hectares, it is the largest Grand Crus estate in the Côte d'Or, with exceptional parcels in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. A pioneer of modern winemaking techniques since the 19th century, the house blends innovation and tradition, preserving its historic cellars while maintaining its family independence.
The vineyard
The "Les Petits Monts" parcel is located in the upper part of the slope of Vosne-Romanée, benefiting from soils rich in iron and clay particularly favorable to pinot noir. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, flourish in this northern terroir of Nuits-Saint-Georges where the geological conditions allow the optimal expression of the Burgundy grape variety. Hand harvesting and yields limited to 38 hl/ha guarantee exceptional grape quality.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking takes place in open vats with complete malolactic fermentation. The aging is carried out over 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels with medium toast, with 40% new barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage. This respectful approach preserves the fruit expression while providing the necessary structure for this great wine to age.
Grape variety
100% pinot noir, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy that finds an especially refined and complex expression in the terroirs of Vosne-Romanée.
