A Burgundian red wine with silky tannins and a persistent finish
The estate
Established in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, the Louis Latour estate remains a family-run Burgundian house operated by the eleventh generation. Holder of the largest Grands Crus holdings in the Côte d'Or, particularly in Corton and Aloxe-Corton, this 30-hectare estate exemplifies Burgundian excellence. As pioneers of modern methods since the 19th century, the Latours combine innovation and tradition in their historic Beaune cellars, perpetuating a family heritage of over two centuries.
The vineyard
The vines of Vosne-Romanée grow on iron-rich clay soils, with an average age of 30 years. With a controlled yield of 40 hl/ha, manual harvesting preserves the integrity of the fruit in this prestigious appellation of the Côte de Nuits.
Winemaking and aging
Traditional vinification takes place in open vats with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with 20% new wood at medium toast, imparting structure and complexity to the wine.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy that expresses here all the finesse of the Vosne-Romanée terroir.
