James Suckling

A Pommard with the firm core you expect from this appellation, but also a lot of cherry character that gives it immediate appeal. Clean and bright finish. Better in 2020.

Vertdevin

The nose offers power and very fine concentration. It reveals notes of blackberry and violet and, more subtly, small wild berries, combined with a touch of wild strawberry as well as hints of dried tobacco, faded flowers, and leather. The palate is fruity and offers tension, a touch of roundness, generosity, and a fine, tangy backbone. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy black cherry, blackberry, and, more subtly, violet, combined with fine touches of crushed small red berries, as well as hints of licorice stick, nutmeg, and a subtle hint of cardamom. A very discreet touch of dark chocolate/cocoa on the finish/persistence.

Description

Louis Max signs a fruity and elegant Burgundy wine

The property

Overlooking about twenty hectares spread over prestigious appellations, the House of Louis Max, founded in 1859, is an essential reference for Burgundy wines.

If the Geneva businessman Stanko Subotić acquired the estate, this enthusiast of the Burgundy terroir surrounded himself with illustrious experts such as Jean-François Joliette and David Duban to produce great wines expressing with authenticity and excellence all the potential of these exceptional terroirs. Louis Max is one of the largest estates cultivated in organic farming and certified by Ecocert. Managed with total respect for nature by limiting human intervention as much as possible, these vineyards give birth to wines recognized by the greatest international critics.

The vineyard

This 2019 Village cuvée from Louis Max is a Pommard wine made from vineyards spread over this emblematic appellation of Côte de Beaune.

Blend

Pinot noir (100%).
