The estate

Marilisa Allegrini currently leads the family business with her daughters Carlotta and Caterina. The Marilisa Allegrini group unites three prestigious estates: Villa Della Torre in Veneto, Poggio Al Tesoro in Tuscany, and San Polo in Montalcino. Marilisa Allegrini, owner and president of the group, was the first Italian woman in the wine industry to appear on the cover of Wine Spectator in 2017.

The vineyard

This Veneto wine comes from the Villa Della Torre vineyard, a walled 10-hectare estate located in Fumane di Valpolicella. Situated at 124 meters above sea level on loamy-clay soils with limestone, the vineyard enjoys an ideal east-southeast exposure. The vines average 10 years of age.

The wine
The label illustration depicts the Camino del Leone, one of the four spectacular mascheroni chimneys of the Villa Della Torre. Attributed to Giovan Battista Scultori, these works are remarkable, with the Camino del Leone being the most imposing. Depicted with an open mouth in a roaring pose, it evokes the devouring devil in biblical symbolism.

Winemaking and aging

After manual harvesting in September and optical sorting, the grapes undergo the traditional appassimento for three months in well-ventilated lofts. Fermentation of the Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2020 takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats for three weeks. Aging occurs over 18 months in oak barrels of 10 to 25 hectolitres, followed by 12 months of bottle refinement.

Grape varieties

This Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is the result of a Blend of 60% corvinone, 30% corvina, and 10% rondinella, the emblematic trio of the Valpolicella appellation that imparts a unique personality to this wine.
