Description
The freshness and elegance of a Patagonian red wine
The estate
The son of the famous Argentinian oenologist, Jorge Riccitelli, Matias Riccitelli founded the eponymous estate in 2009. Located in the province of Mendoza, this estate watches over a 20-hectare vineyard that spreads over three unique terroirs in the foothill of the Andes Mountains.
Matias Riccitelli passionately produces Argentinian wines whose refinement and aromatic richness beam beyond the country’s borders.
The vineyard
Matias Riccitelli's Old Vines from Patagonia Bastardo Trousseau 2021 is a Patagonian wine made from grapes harvested in the Rio Negro province. The vines are over sixty years old on average and are planted at an altitude of between 435 and 500 metres on a limestone soil. The soil is composed mainly of alluvium and silt.
Vinification and ageing
Hand picked followed by partial destemming (25% whole bunches). Vatting by gravity in small oak vats for fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Long maceration with slow and gradual extraction. Aged for 8 months in different-sized barrels.
The blend
100% Trousseau. This grape variety originates from the Jura and is called Bastardo in Argentina.
