Description
A fruity and complex Argentine red wine
The producer
In 1999, after having devoted almost two decades of her talent to national and international wine companies as a consultant, Susana Balbo decided to make her dream come true and establish her own estate. From that point on, the Susana Balbo estate was born in the heart of the Mendoza region. For ten years, the estate continued to win foreign markets and to seduce lovers of fine Argentinian wines due to their quality. Her son, José, and her daughter, Ana, continue the family tradition, having joined the estate’s team.
The vineyard
This BenMarco Malbec 2019 by Susana Balbo stems from the Los Chacayes vineyard in the Vallee de Uco, situated at an altitude of 1,100 metres. Composed of sand and rocky silt, this fine terroir gets its uniqueness from its soil which guarantees a proper drainage, limits plant growth and enables the grapes to reach optimum ripeness.
The vinification and ageing
Selected and harvested by hand, the perfectly ripe grapes are destemmed before being gently pressed. Daily pumping over is carried out. Maceration for 30 days. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. The wine is aged for 11 months in second-fill French oak barrels.
The blend
100% Malbec.
The tasting
This fine Argentinian wine harmoniously blends notes of dark berries and violet with a distinct acidity, firm tannins and a good length.
Food and wine pairing
BenMarco Malbec 2019 will perfectly complement grilled red meats, sausages, seasoned or roasted pork, pasta with a meat sauce or hard cheese.
