Description
The estate
Passionate about wine and terroirs, Michel Tardieu and his wife founded the Tardieu Laurent estate in 1996. Over the years, this estate has become an essential reference among the most beautiful wines in the Rhône Valley.
For two generations, this family estate has been enhancing the terroirs of emblematic appellations (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Condrieu, Hermitage, Vacqueyras, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, etc.) through aromatic and delicate wines produced by rigorous vinification.
The wine
Tardieu Laurent's 2018 Côte-Rôtie "Vieilles Vignes" is made exclusively from the "major" terroirs of the Côte Brune (Landonne, Lancement, Chavaroche). The vines are over 60 years old on average and are planted in the heart of the slopes.
The vintage
Marked by a great heterogeneity between the appellations as well as low yields, 2016 gives rise to fruity, lively, delicate and flavoursome wines.
Vinification and ageing
Whole bunch vinification. An initial ageing period for 12 months in barrels (new and second-fill barrels) is followed by a further 12 months of ageing in tuns.
The blend
100% Syrah.
The tasting
Showcasing a great concentration, this Côte-Rôtie wine offers an alluring balance and refinement.
