Passionate about wine and terroir, Michel Tardieu created with his wife in 1996 the Tardieu Laurent estate which has become, over the vintages, an essential reference among the best wine labels in the Rhône Valley.
For two generations, this family estate has exalted the terroirs of iconic appellations (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Condrieu, Hermitage, Vacqueyras, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage etc) through its aromatic and delicate wines made in a meticulous process.
Tardieu Laurent Special Cuvée 2019 is a Rhône Valley wine made from centuries-old vines, planted in the heart of the "Bas de la Crau" on mostly sandy soils.
The 2019 vintage was marked by an extreme drought between April and September in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The month of June was very hot for the season’s average temperatures, but luckily the providential mid-September rains completely changed the aspect of the vintage. The water stress recorded over the course of the summer ensured an ideal grape ripening. The harvested grapes were of a high quality.
Winemaking and ageing
The initial 12 months of maturation in one-wine and two-wine casks was completed by an additional 12-month ageing in a large barrel.
The nose is intense, developing fragrances of faded rose and peony.
The taste is dense and deep, enticing in its precision.
For the best tasting, decant the wine at a temperature of 14°C two hours before serving.
This Rhône Valley wine can be kept in the cellar for another ten years in order to release all its aromatic nuances.
