For more than 250 years, Weingut Dönnhoff has watched over a unique terroir of vertiginous hillsides on the banks of the Nahe river. Helmut Dönnhoff produces, vintage after vintage, great German wines from a patchwork of terroirs which express the complexity, purity and multiple nuances of Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
Recognised across the borders as being among the greatest white wines in the world, Weingut Dönnhoff wines are seducing through their elegance, their aromatic richness, their freshness as well as their exceptional minerality emitted after several decades of ageing.
Covering an area of 25 hectares, the Weingut Dönnhoff terroir’s uniqueness lies in the multiplicity of soils and sun exposure leading to ideal conditions for the grapes to reach their optimum maturity. Undergoing rigorous care, the 20 to 70-year-old vines produce low but very qualitative yields.
Bearing the "Klamm" name, designating a notch in the rock of the mountain, the Riesling Niederhäuser Klamm Kabinett 2020 from Weingut Dönnhoff comes from some of the steepest vineyards in the Nahe region. The vines, aged from 15 to 35 years on average, are planted in rocky soils made up of volcanic (porphyry) and slaty elements.
The vinification and ageing
This Nahe wine comes from a harvest rigorously hand-picked in order to select and keep only the high quality grapes. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats, as is ageing.
The Niederhäuser Klamm Kabinett 2020 from Weingut Dönnhoff is a 100% Riesling.
Very elegant, this wine combines controlled acidity with intense aromas of citrus fruit and peach.
