The estate
Weingut Emmerich Knoll is located in the Wachau region of north-eastern Austria.
The vineyard
This Grüner Veltliner Loibner Federspiel 2020 comes from vines that are 25 years old on average. The vines are located at an altitude of over 240 metres and rest on a terroir composed of alluvium, sand and limestone.
The wine
Produced within the Wachau appellation, this wine is labelled "Federspiel". According to the designation introduced by the local winegrowers' association in 1984, this denotes a medium-bodied dry wine.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed whole. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats and tuns for five to ten days. The wine is aged for three months on the lees without stirring.
