Description
The silkiness and fruity framework of an exceptional Pinot Noir from the Californian terroir of Chalone
The estate
Founded in 2008 by John Locke and Alex Krause in Santa Cruz, California, Birichino embodies a respectful and natural winemaking philosophy. These former collaborators of Bonny Doon Vineyard have developed a minimalist approach favoring indigenous yeasts, creating wines renowned for their authenticity and pure expression of the Californian terroir.
The vineyard
The Rodnick Farm vineyard thrives in the Chalone AVA on high-altitude granitic and calcareous soils. These Californian vineyards, planted in 1986 with the Swan and Chalone 46 clones, benefit from exceptional climatic conditions that promote slow maturation and remarkable aromatic concentration.
Winemaking and aging
Fermentation with indigenous yeasts, bottled without filtration.
Grape variety
This Rodnick Farm Pinot Noir 2022 from Birichino is 100% Pinot Noir.
